The Waseca County Highway Department is responsible for the
maintenance and construction of 383 miles of road in Waseca County.
Maintenance
responsibilities include items such as placing gravel, seal coating, crack sealing, pot
hole patching, mowing of roadsides, noxious weed control, signing, and, of course, snow
and ice control in the winter. The maintenance crew consists of the road foreman, shop
mechanic, sign man, and 10 highway maintenance workers responsible for operating the
trucks and heavy equipment.
Engineering and construction responsibilities include items such as scheduling and
programming of the five-year construction plan, surveying, plan preparation, right of way
acquisition, contract administration and construction supervision for both road and bridge
construction. The Engineering Department is also responsible for the inspection of 81
County and Township bridges. The Engineering crew consists of the County Engineer,
Assistant County Engineer and two Engineering Technicians. |
