Benefits
Waseca County provides a comprehensive, balanced, and competitive benefits package as part of your total compensation. The County's benefits programs address both the immediate needs that you and your family may have such as medical coverage and your long-term needs such as retirement savings. 

The following outline of County-offered benefits serves as an overview and does not provide all provisions, limitations, and exclusions. If there is a contradiction between this and the official plan documents, the plan documents will prevail. The information provided is a summary and does not list all benefits offered to employees. Benefits offered are subject to change at any time.

Vacation Time

Waseca County believes that vacation time is important in order to maintain a healthy and productive life both at home and at work.  It is the policy of the Company to grant annual vacations with pay to eligible employees to provide opportunities for rest, relaxation and personal pursuits. Vacation accruals, utilization, and payouts vary within each collective bargaining agreement and/or the employee handbook. The following is the general overview of your vacation benefit: 

1 – 4 years of service =  1 day per month
5 – 9 years of service = 1 ¼ days per month
10 – 19 years of service = 1 2/3 days per month
20 + years of service = 1 ¾ days per month

Sick Leave
Eligible employees may earn 8 hours of sick leave per month.  

Paid Holidays
Waseca County recognizes the importance of spending time with their families during national holidays and therefore recognizes national holidays throughout the year. Most employee groups observe the following holidays.

Day After Thanksgiving *

Christmas Eve (1/2 day)

*Highway Dept. observe Columbus Day as holiday instead of Friday after Thanksgiving

Health Insurance
Coverage is effective 1st of the month following 30 day waiting period. Employees may choose between single or family coverage. 

Life Insurance
Employees are provided with the following term life insurance benefit at no cost to them. 

$25,000 term life/$25,000 AD&D 

Retirement
The County and the employee contributes to PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association) 

Employees must participate as directed by Minnesota statutes. 
Contribution rates vary depending on position.
Employee may obtain refund of employee contribution upon termination of service.
