Services available to all Waseca County residents regardless of race, color, national origin, or financial status.

Philosophy: Waseca County Public Health Services believes that good health and well-being are the rights of all persons. Our staff works to obtain the highest level of wellness for all residents of Waseca County.

Referrals: If you have a health concern about yourself, friend, neighbor or relative, or if you have environmental or public health concerns, please contact Public Health Services, (507) 835-0685.

Services include:

Environmental Health

The over-all concern of Environmental Health is the protection of all persons in their environment!  Included in Environmental Health is  the Administration of the State of Minnesota Delegated Well Program, and Individual Sewage Treatment Systems Rules and Regulations. it also includes licensing of Food, Beverage, and Lodging establishments, including inspections of permanent establishments and temporary events.

Family Health

Visits to prenatal and postpartum mothers and new babies are provided. One-to-one education in the home or clinic setting and organized classes or groups are a part of this program.

Immunizations are given the first Monday and the third Wednesday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the agency office. Flu shots are available each Fall at minimum cost. Children's vaccinations are provided free of charge. Adult vaccinations are available for a minimum charge.

Child and Teen Check-ups are available by appointment for all children from birth to 21 years of age. The charge is based on the parent's ability to pay and is free to those on the Medical Assistance Program.

Health Promotion / Consumer Education

Blood Pressure Monitoring is provided Monday through Friday, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the agency office.

Parenting aides are available to provide in home education and support to caregivers of children having difficulty with parenting.

Classes, support groups, presentations, or one-to-one education activities are available. Also our schools without a school nurse are provided vision and hearing follow-up, scoliosis screening and immunization review, etc.

Home Health Care

Home nursing visits to ill and disabled persons are provided. Referrals are accepted from hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, friends, social workers, etc.

Home health aides and homemakers are available to eligible clients through grants or on a fee basis.

Loan Equipment

Commodes, wheelchairs, crutches, canes, etc., are available for 30-day short-term loan to county residents.
