UNIFORM COMMERCIAL CODE

As of July 1, 2001 this office accepts filings for both the statewide UCC filing system and for real estate-related filings to be indexed like mortgages. Clearly indicate on the filing form when the filing is to be filed in the real estate records.

 

A self addressed, stamped envelope is requested for the return of an acknowledgement.

 

Filing Requirements for Financing Statements are:

 

UCC-1

• The name of the debtor.
• The name of the secured party or a representative of the secured party.
• An indication of collateral.
• Sufficient filing fee of $20 per financing statement.

 

UCC-3 AMENDMENT

• Original filing number;
• Continuations must be submitted within six months of the expiration date.
• Sufficient filing fee of $20 per action.

 

Other types of filings accepted in UCC are transmitting utilities and statutory liens. Statutory liens are created and/or established by statute and are located in Minnesota Statutes Section 514

CENTRAL NOTIFICATIONS SYSTEM Effective February 1, 2007

 

The office of the Secretary of State will solely be responsible for processing all CNS filings and searches effective February 1, 2007. Beginning February 1, 2007 all customer inquiries regarding the filing and searching of CNS should be directed to the Office of the Secretary of State.
