There are several ways you can take part in the property tax process:
If you have questions about your property value or its classification, contact your local assessor.
If you are concerned with spending, get involved in the budget process.
Each year, your county, city, and school may hold Truth-In-Taxation meetings to discuss how they determined tax levies for the coming year. If you are concerned with what services are being provided and how much they cost, attend your meetings and voice your opinions. Final levies are certified after these meetings are held. If your district is not required to have a meeting or you cannot attend, call or write to your elected officials.
If you would like to see changes in the property tax process, contact your state representative and state senator.
