- Please arrive prior to 2:00 p.m., to ensure same day processing due to mail deadlines.
- Passports not completed by 4:30 p.m. may need to return for completion.
- Passports are currently taking 10-13 weeks for normal processing, plus mailing time.
- Expedited service is currently taking 7-9 weeks, plus mailing time.
- No appointments necessary.

To obtain a United States Passport Book or Passport Card you will need to present the following:
- Completed passport application form (you MUST sign in person). Obtain this form from the Waseca County Recorder’s Office OR the Passport Agency’s website: www.travel.state.gov. Please use black ink and if you have mistakes, put a line through with correction where it fits.
- A Certified Copy of Birth Certificate from the State level, not a hospital certificate with baby foot prints. This has to be sent in with your passport application but will be returned to you separately.
- Valid Driver’s License or Minnesota ID for identification.
- We need a check or money order for the fees listed, to the U.S. Department of State and cash or check to the Waseca County Recorder.
- We take photos for $15. You can have passport photos taken elsewhere. They do have to have the quality that is acceptable by the Passport Agency.
- If you need your passport in less than routine time, you may expedite for the fees listed on the chart.
- If you are traveling in less than 2 weeks, you may contact the Minnesota Passport Agency at 877-487-2778, or visit www.travel.state.gov to schedule an appointment. When you make an appointment you must let them know you are planning on applying at the Minnesota Passport Agency.

Additional information: The U.S. Department of State highly recommends that all U.S. citizens utilize the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). It is a free service provided by the U.S. Government to U.S. citizens who are traveling to, or living in a foreign country. STEP allows you to enter information about your upcoming trip abroad so that the Department of State can better assist you in an emergency. STEP also allows Americans residing abroad to get routine information from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. See the STEP website to register: https://step.state.gov/step
