Waseca County believes that vacation time is important in order to maintain a healthy and productive life both at home and at work. It is the policy of the Company to grant annual vacations with pay to eligible employees to provide opportunities for rest, relaxation and personal pursuits. Vacation accruals, utilization, and payouts vary within each collective bargaining agreement and/or the employee handbook. The following is the general overview of your vacation benefit:
- 1 - 4 years of service = 1 day per month
- 5 - 9 years of service = 1 ¼ days per month
- 10 - 19 years of service = 1 2/3 days per month
- 20 + years of service = 1 ¾ days per month
Eligible employees may earn 8 hours of sick leave per month.
Waseca County recognizes the importance of spending time with their families during national holidays and therefore recognizes national holidays throughout the year. Most employee groups observe the following holidays.
- New Year's Day
- Memorial Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Martin Luther King Day
- Independence Day
- Day After Thanksgiving *
- Presidents' Day
- Labor Day
- Christmas Eve (1/2 day)
- Good Friday
- Veterans' Day
- Christmas Day
*Highway Department observe Columbus Day as holiday instead of Friday after Thanksgiving
Coverage is effective 1st of the month following 30 day waiting period. Employees may choose between single or family coverage.
Employees are provided with the following term life insurance benefit at no cost to them.
- $25,000 term life/$25,000 AD&D
The County and the employee contributes to PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association)
- Employees must participate as directed by Minnesota statutes.
- Contribution rates vary depending on position.
- Employee may obtain refund of employee contribution upon termination of service.
